JTA Attends The 4th Al-Attiyah Foundation CEO Roundtable Meeting of 2024

Dr. Amir Ali Salemi attended the Al-Attiyah Foundation’s 4th CEO Roundtable Meeting of 2024, held in Doha on December 4, 2024. The event, titled “A Year of Change: Reflections on 2024 and Priorities for 2025,” brought together top decision-makers, internationally renowned experts, and dignitaries to reflect on the pivotal events of the past year and discuss the priorities and challenges ahead.

The high-profile meeting was moderated by Axel Threlfall, Editor-at-Large for Reuters, who opened the discussion with an overview of recent global developments. He highlighted Brent crude hitting a two-week peak, influenced by geopolitical tensions in South Korea, Syria, Ukraine, and conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. Mr. Threlfall also noted the anticipation surrounding an upcoming OPEC production decision, setting the stage for a robust dialogue on energy affordability, renewable energy costs, geopolitical risks, and energy security.

His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Ibrahim, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Attiyah Foundation, officially opened the roundtable, emphasizing the importance of addressing the impacts of climate change and navigating the ongoing energy transition. The discussion focused on the intersection of energy affordability and renewable energy costs, with experts underscoring the need for innovative solutions to ensure energy security amid rising geopolitical uncertainties.

The panel also explored the challenges of balancing energy transition goals with the realities of global energy demand, particularly in regions vulnerable to climate change. The speakers highlighted the critical role of collaboration between governments, industries, and international organizations to achieve sustainable development and energy resilience.
