Trip to Tanzania - Exploring Business Opportunites

During 16th to 19TH January 2024, Dr. Amir Ali Salemi, together with the JTA Management team, visited Tanzania to explore new business opportunities. In this visit JTA had several productive meetings with the President of Zanzibar and a number of other government officials and business leaders to discuss their business plans and ideas for investment in the country. Other topics discussed included the expansion of business operations and economical activities in Tanzania, culminating in the development of agriculture, energy, mining, insurance and tourism sectors in Tanzania.

Tanzania, located in East Africa with a population of 67 million and a GDP of $84 Billion, boasts a diverse geography including the Serengeti and Mount Kilimanjaro. The economy relies heavily on agriculture, contributing 25% of GDP and employing 65% of the workforce with key products like coffee, tea, and cashews. Mining, making up 5% of GDP, focuses on gold, diamonds, and tanzanite. Tourism is also a major source of GDP and foreign exchange, with attractions such as the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar. The manufacturing sector, contributing 8% of GDP, includes food processing and textiles. The developing energy sector has significant natural gas and hydroelectric potential.
